Dana Charles has been a resident of Lawrence County for over 40 years. He worked at International Paper for thirty-four years and after retiring he worked in residential construction.  He has been active in the county serving as the Vice President and President of Lawrence County History and Preservation Society. He is the current President of The Friends of General Joe Wheeler Home Foundation and was appointed to serve on The Alabama Mountain Lakes Board. He also serves on the board of the local chapter of The Tennessee Riverline and on the board at the  Courtland Heritage Museum.  A lifelong Republican, he also serves on the local Republican Executive Committee and is a member of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce.  He served on the Lawrence County Community Development Commission from 2018 to 2025.

In 2018 Governor Kay Ivey appointed him to serve on the Lawrence County Commission.  Under his short but productive tenure on the commission he has done major renovations to the courthouse, making services more efficient for the public.  He will continue to work with Montgomery leadership making sure Lawrence County receives its fair share of funding for roads and infrastructure projects.  He will continue supporting first responders, volunteer fire departments and the Sheriff’s office, making sure they have the resources they need to keep our county safe.  He has been a steward of our tax payer dollars and will continue to cut the wasteful spending, doing more  with less.  Raising taxes on hard working families is never an option.
